Miner Forms Committee to Help Guide Her Effort to Disrupt the Status Quo
Syracuse, New York, June 22, 2018 –
Today Stephanie A. Miner named Bill Samuels and John Sullivan as co-chairs of Miner for New York’s Executive Committee to help guide her independent campaign for governor of New York.
“I am honored to formally welcome these two estimable gentlemen to our effort to fix New York’s broken political system and work to build a government that is truly worthy of its citizens,” said Miner. Miner for New York’s Executive Committee will provide strategic direction on all facets of the campaign including policy and coalition building. Bill Samuels is an activist, reformer and entrepreneur. He serves as chairman of EffectiveNY and the Howard Samuels Policy Center, a nonpartisan government watchdog group and public policy think tank. “Mayor Miner is an experienced public servant and problem solver with a proven track record of taking on tough, important fights – and winning,” said Samuels. “That’s exactly what we need right now, and I’m optimistic that her candidacy will resonate with an electorate desperate for less partisanship and more results.”
John Sullivan is a former mayor of the City of Oswego, a former co-chair of the New York State Democratic Committee, and served as upstate coordinator for Cuomo 2014. “I believe we need to upend and reinvent the system,” said Sullivan. “To do that, we need to organize disaffected New Yorkers from all walks of life behind a qualified, experienced leader with vision, integrity and a plan. Mayor Miner embodies these qualities and I am excited about the opportunity to help carry her substantive, positive message across the state.”
“Bill and John have built careers in public service that have achieved real results without sacrificing their principles,” said Miner. “They represent the best of New York and my campaign and this movement becomes stronger today because of the leadership and experience they bring to this effort.” Miner is running as part of the Serve America Movement (SAM). SAM seeks to promote fairness, integrity and common-sense solutions that transcend the hyper-partisanship that grips Washington and Albany alike.
